The Life House
The Life House Maternity Home is a non-profit ministry that values life from conception and we are committed to providing Help and Hope to the abortion determined women who has courageously chosen life for her baby by providing a residential program in a positive, Christian living environment. If you or someone you know is facing an unplanned pregnancy, The Life House is devoted to offer alternatives to abortion. We are committed to helping you make an informed choice and provide a range of services to support you throughout your pregnancy. You don't have to figure it out on your own. We are here to help.
Up to five women live together as members of a loving, caring family home under the guidance of mature, trained resident coordinators available 24 hours a day. Residents will live at the Life House throughout the length of their pregnancy. Shared responsibilities of housework, meal preparation, and other duties will establish skills needed for independent living and parenting. Since each of the women that we serve are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, the bonds and friendships created here can be long lasting. The residents laugh together, share their joys together and even cry together. They work together to care for the home, as a family would, and follow house rules and policies that keep the home running smoothly on a daily basis.
One thing every mommy needs during pregnancy is the right support system. Whether our residents decide to parent or choose an adoption plan, we provide the spiritual and emotional support needed to help prepare them for the next step. Upon arrival, each resident will be assessed to determine her needs. The Life House partners with individuals who offer complimentary counseling services. We also recommend residents participate in our mentoring program that connects women with others who have faced similar life situations and can give insightful advice. Through local church involvement, women will build positive relationships and gain additional encouragement.
Life Skills Education
We serve our residents in a structured living environment with emphasis on developing independent living skills, social skills and financial self-sufficiency. Our goal is to exhibit practical love through holistic ministry that assists in the advancement of career skills and wise decision making. We do this by providing education on parenting and early childhood development, budgeting and finance, job interviewing techniques, cooking and housekeeping, interpersonal skills and self-awareness.
Residents will receive counsel regarding all available options for developing a permanency plan for after the baby is born. We will work with each individual to explore all the options appropriate for them and their babies – reconnecting with family, available housing for parenting the baby, or choosing an adoption plan. Life House is designed to provide information regarding adoption services without pressure or influence. Family members and the fathers of the babies may be included in counseling if appropriate.
Transportation & Access to Medical Care
All residents will be provided with transportation to medical appointments, employment, school, social services, and more. The Life House will help each resident access the medical care she needs for a healthy pregnancy, labor and delivery. This care includes prenatal, dental, vision, and other care as needed.
